Version 19 New Features, Improvements and Bug fixes

Customer's requiring the latest TLS/SSL based database security, authentication and encryption support should utilize the Microsoft Database (MSOLEDBSQL) drivers. These optional database drivers are recommended when corporate IT provides a DBA or similar to support the additional complexity. Support for the Microsoft Database (MSOLEDBSQL) Drivers are included in the latest releases of the following Predator applications:

October 2023 - Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server v19.3.2

Microsoft v19.3.2 of the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server has been released. Refer to the following improvements:

  • Adds improved MARS and encryption related error messages
  • Fixes a bug when invalid metadata is received from the server

June 2023 - Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server v19.3.1

February 2023 - Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server v19.3.0

Microsoft v19.3.0 of the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server has been released. Refer to the following improvements:

  • Adds Windows Arm64 support
  • Adds requirement for Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 Redistributable
  • Fixes a bug when invalid metadata is received from the server
  • Fixes a bug with packaging the 64-bit instance of adal.dll vs. the 32-bit instance of adal.dll

  • Adds support for the Server Certificate connection string keyword and the SSPROP_INIT_SERVER_CERTIFICATE property

August 2022 - Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server v19.1.0

Microsoft v19.1.0 of the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server has been released. Refer to the following improvements:

  • Adds ALPN, Application-Layer Protocol Negotiation, extension
  • Fixes a bug with the SSPROP_INIT_AUTOTRANSLATE property was being ignored for SSVARIANT narrow string values
  • Fixes a bug with missing digital signatures
  • Fixes a bug with HostnameInCertificate property being passed through the Server Name Indication, SNI, TLS extension
  • Fixes a bug with Protocol Order and TCP Keep-Alive registry properties

  • Adds support for default secure-by-default options including encryption, major change in driver behaviour
  • Adds support for Host Name in Certificate connection string and the SSPROP_INIT_HOST_NAME_CERTIFICATE property

    Yes, the above release details apply to both 64bit and 32bit editions of the database drivers.

  • What edition is included within Predator application downloads?

    The 64bit version of the database drivers are included with each download. The 32bit version can be downloaded and installed seperately for 32 bit Windows OSes. The 32bit version is also included within the latest Predator DVDs.
