Predator DNC™ for Fanuc CNCs

Predator DNC with Fanuc CNC

Complete Fanuc CNC and Data Server support with Predator DNC Software

Predator DNC provides complete industrial networking solutions, RS232 transfer, dripfeeding, wireless and Ethernet communication support for all Fanuc CNCs and Fanuc Data Servers simultaneously. Predator DNC maximizes the performance and capabilities of each Fanuc CNC and Data Server when this option is purchased. Predator DNC includes all Fanuc RS232 and Ethernet protocols standard with the purchase of Predator DNC software. Not all Fanuc CNC and Data Server networking options are available for all Fanuc models.

NOTE: Fanuc Data Server support primarily utilizes FTP with Fanuc Focas available only with newer Fanuc CNCs. In all cases, Fanuc Data Server and Fast Fanuc Data Server support requires a working Data Server installed on each Fanuc CNC.

Fanuc Focas support

Predator DNC includes support for the Fanuc Focas protocol via Embedded Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and HSSB (Fiber Optic) with the following main features:

  • Send to CNC
  • Receive from CNC
  • Single file or multiple file transfer
  • Dripfeed to CNC
  • Predator Schedule support
  • Fanuc Fast Data Server support (Limited to newer Fanuc CNC models only)
  • Program numbers, filenames and folders
  • Tool restart after tool break
  • Send variables to CNC
  • Receive variables from CNC
  • CNC probe results
  • Data collection
  • Machine monitoring
  • Automation with robots, PLCs and other equipment
  • Conditional machining
  • Part family machining
  • Multiple heads, spindles and paths
  • Multiple Fanuc CNCs simultaneously
  • Drag and drop support
  • Remote Request and bar code triggers
  • Faster than RS232 with error correction
  • Optional background operation as a true Windows service

NOTE: Predator Schedule support requires Predator DNC Enterprise. Fanuc filenames and folders support requires newer Fanuc series such as a Fanuc 31i. Predator DNC's Fanuc Focas supports file transfer to the Fanuc CNC's memory and to newer Fanuc Data Servers when this option is purchased. Older Fanuc Data Servers require the use of FTP.

Fanuc FTP support

Predator DNC includes support for the Fanuc FTP protocol via Embedded Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and HSSB (Fiber Optic) interfaces with the following main features:

  • Send to CNC
  • Receive from CNC
  • Single file or multiple file transfer
  • Dripfeed to CNC
  • Predator Schedule support
  • Fanuc Data Server and Fanuc Fast Data Server support (Broad support for all generations of Fanuc Data Servers)
  • Machine monitoring
  • Automation with robots, PLCs and other equipment
  • Multiple heads, spindles and paths
  • Multiple Fanuc CNCs simultaneously
  • Drag and drop support (Requires Fanuc Fast Data Server)
  • Remote Request and bar code triggers
  • Faster than RS232 with error correction
  • Optional background operation as a true Windows service

NOTE: Fanuc Fast Ethernet support requires the Fanuc Fast Data Server option. Predator Schedule support requires Predator DNC Enterprise. Predator DNC's FTP supports file transfer to the Fanuc CNC's memory and the Fanuc Data Server when this option is purchased.

Fanuc Custom Macro A & B support

Predator DNC includes support for the Fanuc Custom Macro A & B support with the following main features:

  • Ethernet and serial protocol support
  • Send variables to CNC
  • Receive variables from CNC
  • CNC probe results
  • Data collection
  • Machine monitoring
  • Automation with robots, PLCs and other equipment
  • Conditional machining
  • Part family machining
  • Multiple Fanuc CNCs simultaneously
  • Remote Request and bar code triggers
  • Optional background operation as a true Windows service

NOTE: The Fanuc Custom Macro A & B option may have to be purchased from Fanuc.

Fanuc A & Expand A Protocol support

Predator DNC includes support for the Fanuc A & Expand A protocol via the Fanuc Remote Buffer option with the following main features:

  • Send to CNC
  • Dripfeed to CNC
  • Single file or multiple file transfer
  • Tool restart after tool break
  • Machine monitoring
  • Automation with robots, PLCs and other equipment
  • Multiple Fanuc CNCs simultaneously
  • Drag and drop support
  • Optional background operation as a true Windows service

NOTE: The Fanuc A & Expand A protocol requires the Fanuc Remote Buffer option and may have to be purchased from Fanuc. Although this protocol supports RS232 and RS422, the general lack of compatible RS422 hardware with proper device drivers means that Predator Software only supports Fanuc A / Expand A via RS232 with a maximum baud rate of 38,400.

Fanuc Cassette Protocol support

Predator DNC includes support for the Fanuc Cassette protocol with the following main features:

  • Send to CNC
  • Receive from CNC
  • Dripfeed to CNC
  • Tool restart after tool break
  • Machine monitoring
  • Automation with robots, PLCs and other equipment
  • Multiple Fanuc CNCs simultaneously
  • Optional background operation as a true Windows service

Fanuc RS232 support

Predator DNC includes support for standard Fanuc RS232 protocols with the following main features:

  • Send to CNC
  • Receive from CNC
  • Single file or multiple file transfer
  • Dripfeed to CNC
  • M198 style external sub program calls
  • Predator Schedule support
  • Tool restart after tool break
  • Machine monitoring
  • Automation with robots, PLCs and other equipment
  • Multiple Fanuc CNCs simultaneously
  • Drag and drop support
  • Remote Request and bar code triggers
  • Optional background operation as a true Windows service

NOTE: The oldest Fanuc CNCs require a Predator BTR board to add a RS232 port by emulating a paper/punch tape interface to the CNC machine. Customers with executive tapes or lots of legacy tapes can request a batch transfer of tapes to appropriate file formats. Predator Schedule support requires Predator DNC Enterprise.
